PAGOPACE sells innovative payment rings that combine practical functionality with elegant design. The popular wearables are not only a smartphone-independent means of payment, but also a stylish accessory. The rings allow users to make payments quickly, securely and conveniently without having to rely on physical cards or cash.
Despite the innovative product idea, PAGOPACE faced two key challenges that impeded the company's growth and scaling:
Complex onboarding and configuration of the rings
The process for setting up and updating payment information on the rings was cumbersome. Customers had to either send in the rings or visit the PAGOPACE flagship store in person to complete the initial setup or update the payment details if they were lost or changed. This process prevented it from entering the retail sector and resulted in many support requests.
Quest for an additional unique selling point
The hardware alone did not offer a sufficiently unique selling point compared to competing products. This situation called for a strategic realignment in order to stand out from the competition.
Johnny Bytes took over the entire product development of the custom solution. With the support of our partner agency Friendventure in app design, Johnny Bytes developed an innovative Flutter app. The app improves customer interaction and enables new business models for PAGOPACE.
The newly developed app allows customers to set up rings from the comfort of their own home, update payment information and deactivate the ring themselves in the event of loss. An intuitive onboarding experience and modern app design significantly increase customer satisfaction and strengthen the premium character of the PAGOPACE brand. The Companion App enables PAGOPACE to sell its rings in retail stores in the future and is therefore the prerequisite for scaling its business model.
A key unique selling point of the solution is the integrated NFC app store. Users can use it to extend the functionality of their rings, for example by adding a digital business card or the option to open the car using an NFC sensor. This opens up new ways for PAGOPACE to build customer loyalty and differentiate itself in the market.
By integrating a subscription model, PAGOPACE opens up additional monetization opportunities. Customers gain access to exclusive functions and enhancements. The customer lifecycle value is increased and a continuous source of income is created.
The introduction of the PAGOPACE Companion App not only efficiently solved the challenges of onboarding and ring management, but also created an innovative platform for NFC-based enhancements.
The improvements led to a significant increase in user loyalty and opened up new ways of monetization.
